With their outstanding self-titled debut album RED GIANT delivered an extraordinary thrill-loaded fusion of heavy/alt rock and post-hardcore.
The band’s album was an exhilarating rocket-sled ride of musical endeavour from start to finish.
Dave Simpson, (guitar + lead vocals) a popular YouTube presenter, is the mastermind behind the project. The album was engineered, produced, mixed & mastered by Pieter Rietkerk and recorded at Chapel Studios, Lincolnshire (Arctic Monkeys, The Darkness.)
an urgent, frustrated, sincere scream for redemption…
When we first heard RED GIANT we were reminded of The Mars Volta and Jane’s Addiction in terms of glimmering extent and superior artistry.
Now Red Giant have released the single “Free Me” taken from their 2024 debut.
The song is an urgent, frustrated, and sincere scream for redemption from an inner being who finds himself in distress, though his own attempts to pull himself out of the painful abyss have failed time-and-time-over.
The song’s fragmented structure, splintering chords, altitudinous riffs, and emotional vocals evoke the depth of feeling that’s experienced by someone has been ensnared within their very-own ever-consuming hellscape. The song’s subdued conclusion stands in sharp contrast to the previous moments. Has the person trapped behind his own bars been saved… or has he succumbed to a painful destiny?
