ORIANTHI Raises Feelings

We’ve long been impressed by ORIANTHI’s creative talent, previously calling her artistry “electrodynamic vividness”.

So we’re incredibly excited to share our review of her new album, “Some Kind of Feeling”, available to pre-order from https://orcd.co/OrianthiSKOF

Three songs on the new album—”First Time Blues,” “Ghost,” and “Bad For Each Other”—were produced by Orianthi herself, with Kevin Shirley (Beth Hart, Joe Bonamassa) producing the remaining tracks.

Attention” (music video shared below) is a song about the pitfalls of drunk texting, and boasts a beautiful melody, delicate vocals, and gentle rhythms that blossom into an exuberant and expressive atmosphere. This becomes a starflower of expressiveness when the guitar solo carves a peppery path across an absorptive soundscape. Gracious!

The title track “Some Kind Of Feeling” has bolstering rhythms, chirping keys (from Ed Roth), nurturing vocals (with backing from Jade MacRae), and a set of tasteful licks. This song radiates happiness and blessing as it jaunts along with joyful enthusiasm!

What I’ve Been Looking For” is characterized by its soft blues feel, ornate embellishments, and openhearted quality. Orianthi’s vocals in this song are both smooth and powerful, a perfect mix of softness and intensity… and there’s some of the greatest guitar balustrading we’ve heard in a long time! Wonderful!

The ballad “Ghost” starts with a soft piano intro, then expands into a warm embrace of love, affection, and mutual understanding. The guitar playing is softly empathetic, similar to Carlos Santana’s style and feel. This is an incredibly clear-headed and strong-willed piece of artistic thought-shaping.

First Time Blues” (ft. Joe Bonamassa) is upbeat, energetic, and remarkably well-balanced. A beautiful contrast is created between Orianthi’s delicate apricot voice and the combination of bluesy guitarwork and rhythms of leather and lace. The solos, when they arrive, are as lively as a shaken bottle of spumante. Zingy!

Some Kind of Feeling” is an exceptionally characterful album, boasting distinctive richness of expression, superior and coherent quality, and effective musicianship all round. Yes, ORIANTHI raises feelings!

Rating: 5 out of 5.
