CONNOR SELBY, the Essex-born singer-songwriter, uses music for emotional communication, which is evident in his new single “Amelia.” See the new video (below.)
This song is the newest release from the singer-songwriter’s upcoming album, The Truth Comes Out Eventually, due August 29th.
The song’s been evolving since the artist’s teens, drawing on the work of Nick Drake for inspiration, and presents the artist’s creative growth.
I don’t feel like the song has to justify its own existence. ..
CONNOR SELBY
This is yet another instance of his new album acting as a release valve.
Talking about the song, Selby says, “Amelia is a song that I’ve kept with me for many years. It’s been lurking at the back of my mind since my late teens, but I never quite knew what to do with it and wasn’t sure if it fit with the rest of the music I was making.
Now I’m not as concerned, and I don’t feel like the song has to justify its own existence. This album felt like the perfect time to finally share it with the world, as it explores all the different aspects of my artistry and is fundamentally about trying to get to the core of who I am, as an artist and person.
The song was written about someone dear to me many years ago who was struggling with mental health issues and about my feelings of helplessness in not really being able to do anything to help her, but still loving and caring about her nonetheless…”
Each release teaches us a little bit more about Selby. In the fortcoming album The Truth Comes Out Eventually, the musician explores all aspects of his music— is he a ballroom big band leader? Is he a blazing guitar hero? Or is he a gentle, folk-singing musician? The reality is that he is all those things and beyond. This is Selby’s time! Become part of his universe!
