The multi-award-winning singing ‘n’ songwriting Bristol bluethroat ELLES BAILEY —whose opulent vocal tonality we’ve described as a “honeystone and chokecherry” — has announced a brand new album ‘Can’t Take My Story Away’ due out January 16th 2026 via Cooking Vinyl and Outlaw Music.
Alongside the announcement, Elles also releases the record’s first single titled ‘Growing Roots’ (reviewed below) as she announces a string of 2026 UK and EU dates, including at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on March 19th 2026.

The eleven songs on ’Can’t Take My Story Away’ were produced by Luke Potashnick and recorded with exceptional musicians.
ELLES is still busy growing roots and her life has been and still is an amazingly impressive and continually shifting story. Her narrative is sincerely and sensitively presented through this recording, which was created over three years but uses songs collected across a decade of creativity.
“There’s definitely an empowerment to this record,” she says.
“I feel like that has actually evolved since I first started making it – as though I was a different person. There is a quiet strength running through this album and a deep-rooted honesty and whilst there are some moments that reflect on some of the hardest chapters of my story, there’s a feeling of joy threaded through every note. It’s like a kind of light has found its way in, even in some of the darkest moments.”
The album’s first single ‘Growing Roots’ offers a series of brave beats that envelope the husky rust of Elles’vocals. The mellowed organ, pleasant percussion, and a subtle yet valuable guitar solo offer value, but this song is definitely all about the blue fox fruitfulness of Elles’ smooth-grained delivery.
