the verse ascends to stiff peaks of promise before a majestic chorus blossoms forth in optimistic style…
“Count My Blessings Radio Edit” is a swaddle of blithe and brotherly guitar notes, accompanied by the easy sway of some softly distributed bone-block rhythms. Lead singer Tom Franklin’s vocal is as dry as ash and grey as slate, yet this is a song of deferred anticipation and delayed fortitude… so the verse ascends to stiff peaks of promise before a majestic chorus blossoms forth in optimistic style.
“Count My Blessings is about the battle with addiction,” says Tom Franklin. “Addiction is a constant battle even after the habit is kicked. The urges don’t just go away, hence the saying once an addict, always an addict. It’s a constant fight. It’s about the feeling of ‘Right, I’ve stopped it now, so why don’t I feel better? why am I not fixed? Why don’t I feel normal’ and trying to find that reason to feel whole again.”
The band will be the special guests of PARKER BARROW on their forthcoming ‘Hold The Mash‘ UK tour. They will also support Danielle Nicole on her February 2027 UK dates. See the tour poster below.
