The luxuriant post-rock/dark pop quartet THE PRIDS from Portland/ West Coast, USA — whose lush & mesmerizing soundscapes bring hope and intrigue to their many fans — are playing a short run of rare shows in the UK next week [dates below video] following the release of their latest album, “Do I Look Like I’m In Love?”
The fact there’s even a new Prids record, let alone a UK tour, is a miracle. In March 2015 the band’s bassist-vocalist Mistina LaFave suffered a brain haemorrhage the night before the band was scheduled to enter the studio.
The recovery was physically and mentally taxing, and La Fave is lucky to be alive.
The Prids’ 22 years has been marked with death, sickness, divorce, and a near-fatal van crash that cut short a tour and left members bloody and broken — but they still survive, through their friendship and the bond of musicianship.
