When we last caught the Scottish wildcat singer/songwriter RACHEL SERMANNI we thought her voice was a creamy smother — a pearly texture — with her words magically reflecting back. In a certain light they might appear angelic…

Her voice has always retained authority and strength — like the firm grip of a pastor on the scruff of a favorite lamb — so we’re very pleased that the Scottish folk noir artist is releasing “Tiger” the second single from her forthcoming third album, “So It Turns” — due August 23rd.
The new song starts-off soft and wispy with a cradle of acoustic finger-picks. The voice is moderately chilled and as vaporous as a thick morning mist, but that’s before the clacking boxtop beat kicks in. After that, the song becomes hypnotically exalted… without necessarily getting beatific. This might be easy on the ears, but it’s not easy on the mind…
