The hard melodic-rock 5-piece act GIN ANNIE from Wolverhampton, England became HRH Highway to Hell winners in 2018, so released their remarkably nugget-strewn debut album titled “100% Proof” via Off Yer Rocka.
We thought, for example, that “Chains” from that album was a slice of cool sonic awesomeness, with cogitating vocals, a deliberately unrushed pace and a gradually building sense of buzzing excitement.
Now the lads, including David Foster (vocals); Byron ‘Beej’ Garbett (guitars); Brian Green (guitars); Phill ‘Hammer’ Burrows (bass); abd now with Lewis Turner (drums) release a brand new single: “Devil in Me” — a one-off number that explores the compelling moment where fooling about with someone turns into sexual desire: and when a linking interconnection is achieved… in other words, that precise & precious heartbeat that occurs just before “interfacing” begins, ha ha!
“That’s why this track is something you can actually dance to: We wanted the music to take you to the ‘club’ or ‘dance floor’ where seduction is taking place. We want you to join that dance…”
So, as you can imagine, the single is a radiant shimmer of hope and impulse. The torrid guitars zing with compulsion while the voice is ultra-coercive. Yep, it’s a corking snazz, for sure!
