“This is the record we’ve been wanting to do ever since we started,” states Brandon.
“We’ve always thought of ourselves as a live act,” he continues. “When Jay Ruston (producer, Amon Amarth, Anthrax, Stone Sour) described his process of recording, we were beyond excited about getting in and getting our hands dirty. It involved performing live as a unit and finishing all instruments on a song before moving on to the next.”
“We recorded 16 songs in 21 days, which is a feat in itself.”
“Electrified” is the album’s electrovoltic kickstarter. It’s a scintillating cracker of high-excitation rhythms, salamander guitars, drawplate synths, and a mighty tumult of extraordinary voice-power. If you love well-judged bombast, packed with intensely felt, melodic, heat… this is for you!
“Dizzy” strides like a diabolified multi-headed theropod! In other words, it’s heavy, hard-loaded and growls with unimaginable (but groovy) exasperation.
“Set You Free” (video shared below) begins in restrained style but steps up the catalyzing volume to max… though judiciously. The synth slides between key-notes and there are flexing pulses of sound everywhere. This is staunch without being churlish.
“Better Times” is a rowdy, cowbell-spattered vociferation of earthshaking beats, electrifying riffs, refreshing grooviness, and dynamic invigoration.
“Golden” takes a leitmotif from “Set You Free” (the songs come as a couplet on this album) and runs with it. This was written as an homage to Chris Cornell. “We’re so influenced by everything he and Soundgarden have done,” noted Brandon, about this track. And it’s clear: this hallowing number is an euphonious dark-metallic tribute to a dearly loved and much-missed talent.
If you seek unconquerable power, thermobaric competency, and fearless tension, look no further! Come feel this…
