Over the Hill ELLES BAILEY

Multiple award-winning song-lady chantress/songwriter ELLES BAILEY whose compositions we have described as “breathtakingly intimate” will release the Deluxe edition of her number-one album ‘Shining In The Half Light’ on 17th March, 2023.

The album features top-notch musicianship; the percussion is precise and faultless, the guitar is vibrant and elemental, and the organ is passionate and nourishing; and of course the vocals come:: “packed with vital emotion…”

To mark the occasion, the Bristol songstress offers an unique rendition of John Martyn’s 1973 classic ‘Over the Hill‘ – a toe-dancing, throttle-bodied, super-karting, home-coming celebration.

There’s a more aggressive electric guitar lead, as well as Elles’ signature lusciously beplushed vocal timbre, mellowy supporting vocals, melancholic keys, and vibrant drumming. These song elements combine to make the song more lively than Martyn’s introspectively acoustic original. Classy… but casual!

Shining In The Half Light Deluxe

The track was co-produced by Elles Bailey, Peter Miles and Elles’ touring band: Joe Wilkins on guitar, Jonny Henderson on keys, Matthew Waer on bass, and Matthew Jones on drums and Grace Lightman, Elio Evangelou and Kat Marsh on backing vocals.

The video for ‘Over the Hill’ (shared below) — directed by multi-talented Kriss Barras — shows the track being recorded live to tape at Middle Farm Studios in Devon in the U.K.

Shining In The Half Light Deluxe Edition’ will be released and available on all digital platforms and on CD on 17th March, 2023
