Following in the general footsteps of bands like Snow Patrol, Two Door Cinema Club, General Fiasco, and of course Pleasure Beach — Belfast, Northern Ireland it seems, has become a haven for the “indie dream.”
Now, in January 2016, arrives BEAUTY SLEEP. They are a three piece with the same appeal, amplitude and convictions as the artists indicated above.
Hatched at a local house party — the three talented musicians: Ryan McGroarty, Cheylene Murphy and Aimee Williamson stuck bad words onto a refrigerator. They made a connection over the fridge-magnet incident and thought they should get together creatively, as a team.
In the studio they refined their skills and shared their musical interests.
Their new single ‘The Dark’ is made of dreamy synths, fuzzy bass lines and lots of delicious chorus effects played on the hot guitar.
The Belfast team insisted on a self-produced debut single — in the hope that this will not only prove their songwriting skills but also demonstrate their understanding of music…
Beauty Sleep’s single ‘The Dark’ will be available Friday 19th February.
We had a listen:
This is sonically representative of a slumbering Sunday afternoon spent lazing on a sun-deck.
Twangs are long, low and bikini strappy…
Rhythms chink around like floating ice-cubes and yummy synths swell up like little clouds.
The angelic vocals shine and sparkle. All are buttercup gold and move in elongated whisps, like lazy smoke rising from the grill.
This is extremely attractive.
And we especially loved the thin peels of sound that brought us to the climax.
