QUIREBOYS — Fully Plugged

The QUIREBOYS are about to go on tour again … this time fully plugged.

The tour commences April 7th.

Beautiful Curse – The Quireboys

There is no sledge-hammering in the QUIREBOYS blues-rock repertoire. So do not expect the anguish & anger that is found in other rock bands. Their songs are soft – almost demure – but they always seem to contain a sand-papery edge. Once we described their sound as “hot jitter sauce …

The current line-up with front man Spike, guitarists Guy Griffin + Paul Guerin, Dave McCluskey on drums, Nick Malling on bass and Keith Weir on keys – has been very successfully doing what comes naturally to them since Beautiful Curse [2013.]

In other words: gunpowder and glue vocals, streamers of musical colour and knocking tappets of rhythm across flourishing keyboards.

Twisted Love – The Quireboys

After a successful series of unplugged concerts, the band plans to return to the road … this time with a full electric show in support of Twisted Love — their ninth studio album, released via Off Yer Rocka in 2016. Concert dates are listed below.

Meanwhile we have been listening to “Breaking Rocks” [shared below] released on video last November:

It has an intermittent dynamic and magnificent textures… with that instantly accessible Quireboys boogie-groove. As usual, the romantic grit of Spike’s basalt voice hits pay dirt again.
