This month the award-winning and critically acclaimed guitarist & singer SUSAN SANTOS whose oxblood vocals we have described as ‘wrigglesome‘ and whose ladyfingered blackstrap guitar-work we have described as “intoxicating” celebrates the release of her new studio album Sonora with another single taken from it, “So Long.”
Santos is a dedicated, self-taught left-hand guitarist, based in Madrid, Spain. Her unique combination of rhythms & textures are found in the exceptional songs that she handcrafts and develops. She is an exceptional artist in her own right and a creative force within the wider guitar community.

Raw Ramp
A song with elements of Americana, “So Long” captures the sensation of loss, hope, and longing that many musicians expereince when they begin to return home. The song’s main character makes a stay at the last motel on the tour. The neon lights are flashing, yet no one is in sight. Alone, she reflects on the fragmented pieces of a past now removed: the broken relationships, the disappointments, and all the sacrifices she has made on her journey.
There are slangy drawls of guitar, a toneful hook, shadowfilled vocals, and a uniquely distinctive guitar solo that appears two-thirds of the way through and that will make you close your eyes and wish you too could embody Santos’ moxy grit! Superb!
