CHAGSTOCK has announced that the theme of the “The Best Little Festival in The South West” 2017 edition will be “Spies & Dolls” in honour of organiser Si Ford’s mother — she passed away late last year…
The very first Chagstock took place in Ford’s mum’s back-garden in 2003.
His mother’s maiden name was Monypenny.
During the 2nd World War she joined the WRNS and worked at a satellite branch of Bletchley Park. Here she worked on code breaking machines. Having signed the Official Secrets Act at the time, she was unable to tell Si’sfather what she had been doing until the 1970s. She was the original ‘Miss Monypenny’—
Chagstock will also permanently name their beer tent Miss Monypenny’s in loving memory.
Fancy dress will be encouraged at Chagstock 2017 — although it does not have to necessarily relate to the 007 Bond theme …
